Our Annul 25 Drive takes place next Tuesday in the Community Centre. Tickets are available from the school.

Health Screening takes place in the school on Monday next for Junior Infants and 5th class.

We're all going to the LinenHall Arts Centre on Friday to see a play called "The House That Jack Filled". We're very excited!

2nd, 3rd and 4th classes will travel to Turlough House on Wednesday for a "Painting The Past" workshop.

We're holding our first ever Club Gaeilge this Wednesday at 3pm! It is hope to continue with this every Wednesday.

Were holding our Book Fair all this week! The fair will be open every morning at 9.30am.

Well done Lorcan & Anna in the Cross Country races today. Both have qualified for the County Finals!

Friday, Sept 14th will see a sea of red and green in Craggagh NS as we wear our county colours in support of the Mayo Senior Footballers who take on Donegal in the All Ireland Final.

The Mayo County Board in partnership with Cumann na mBunscol Maigh Eo are running a competition for the best schools to take part, with the winning schools getting a family ticket to the All Ireland Final on September 23rd.

It's time to get out those "scarves, flags and headbands"!

We're excited to announce that we will be hosting a Science Fair, facilitated by Declan Holmes of Science Ireland, on Wednesday next, Sept 12th. Here's a bit of info from the man himself:

Science Fair facilitated by Declan Holmes of Science Ireland. http://scienceireland.ie/ Students from 5th & 6th class will learn how to explain amazing table-top science experiments to the students in the younger classes. We will go to each class beforehand and perform a short warm up science show. The science fair is an exciting day for everyone in the school and makes science come alive.

Well done to our 3 Cumann na mBunscol "Young Whistlers", Keith, Dylan and Luke who took to McHale park on Saturday night during the Mayo Vs Dublin NFL match.

The senior game was abandoned at half time due to fog (maybe just as well from a Mayo point of view!). Nevertheless, the exhibition game went ahead. Dylan and Luke patrolled the sidelines while Keith manned the whistle.

Mayo Teacher Wins National Competition

MAYO ADVERTISER, DECEMBER 02, 2011.

A teacher from Kiltimagh has won a national competition, which recognised his lesson comparing ancient Egypt with ancient Mayo, as one of the most creative school classes in the country.

Danny Charlton, a teacher from the Craggagh National School, was awarded the honour after winning the Encyclopaedia Britannica and Scoilnet National Teacher Competition, which sought the most innovative lesson plans from primary and post-primary teachers throughout Ireland.

His lesson plan, which encourages students to contrast artefacts from ancient Egypt and Mayo, was selected as the winner of the primary level category by a panel of independent adjudicators for its innovative approach to teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to differentiated learning. It will also be made available for schools to share through the Scoilnet Education Portal.

Congratulations to 6th class student Aoife Begley who captured the Scór na nÓg County title for recitation. This is an U-17s competition so it is a superb result for Aoife and her coach Mrs Macken.

3rd to 6th classes will travel to Turlough House on Wednesday, November 16th to a textiles workshop as part of National Science Week

Swimming lessons begin this week in the Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Breaffy House. Bus will depart the school at 12.30pm and return before 3pm.
